Low
Sulphur Diesel
An
automotive diesel fuel with a maximum sulfur content
of 500 parts per million or 500 mg/L. The effect of
moving to a lower sulfur diesel is that, in well maintained
engines, the levels of sulfur dioxide and soot emissions
from the exhaust are lower.
It
is recommended for use in high speed diesel engines
widely used in automotive and industrial applications
especially where low soot emissions are desirable. It
has a high cetane number (indicative of good ignition
quality) and controlled volatility to ensure easy starting,
smooth combustion, maximum power output and freedom
from diesel knock. Its viscosity, low residue content
and close distillation range ensure minimum wear and
corrosion, and proper lubrication of fuel pump and injectors.
It is also used in domestic and smaller industrial automatic
heating systems equipped with gun type burners.
Caltex
low sulfur diesel complies with AS 3570-1998 and State
Environment Protection Regulations where applicable.
It may be used where BS 2869 Class A2 and ASTM D975
No. 2D is specified and has a gross energy per unit
volume of approximately 38.2 MJ/L. Caltex low sulfur
diesel complies with the Fuel Quality Standards Act
(2000), and the Fuel Standard (Diesel) Amendment Determination
2002 (No 1).

Lead
Replacement Petrol
A
petrol specially formulated for cars with engines designed
to run on leaded fuel where Leaded Petrol is unavailable.
It contains an additive to prevent valve seat recession
and has the same 96 octane rating as Leaded Petrol.
It retains the characteristics of easy starting, quick
warm up and full power under all climatic conditions
of Leaded Petrol. Environmentally it is an advance on
Leaded Petrol, having a lower maximum benzene content
and exhibiting lower vapour losses to the atmosphere
during summer months. It is coloured red.

Unleaded
A
highly refined unleaded fuel for spark ignition engines
blended to meet the requirements of modern automotive
engines fitted with catalytic converters and designed
to run on unleaded petrol. It contains the same additive
system as Premium Unleaded Petrol to ensure total fuel
system cleanliness and engine performance efficiency,
and similarly to Premium Unleaded Petrol gives easy
starting, quick warm up and full power under all climatic
conditions. It has an octane rating of 91 minimum, is
coloured purple and meets AS 1876.

Premium
Unleaded
A
highly refined, premium grade unleaded fuel for spark
ignition engines blended to meet the requirements of
modern automotive engines fitted with catalytic converters
and designed to run on unleaded petrol. It has an octane
rating of 95 minimum which makes it ideal for imported
vehicles which require unleaded petrol with octane ratings
higher than the commonly available 91. It is also ideal
for those cars which experience engine knocking or run-on
problems when using 'regular' unleaded petrol. Premium
Unleaded Petrol contains a multifunctional additive
package (detergent, dispersant and anti-rust) which
keeps fuel injectors/carburettor systems clean and provides
the characteristics essential for the most efficient
performance of modern high compression automotive engines.
It gives easy cold starting, quick warm-up and full
power under all seasonal climatic conditions. It is
coloured light yellow and meets AS 1876.

Kerosene
A
premium quality product for use in all kerosene burning
applications including heating and refrigeration. It
is suitable for kerosene space heaters with wick or
sleeve type burners where it burns cleanly and uniformly
with no objectionable odours or deposits. In lamps it
gives a bright dependable light with no tendency to
flicker. It has a gross energy per unit volume of approximately
36.9 MJ/L and is coloured pale blue.

Heating
Oil
A
premium quality heating oil designed to meet the volatility,
viscosity and clean burning requirements of vaporising
oil burners and domestic space heating equipment. It
has a gross energy per unit volume of approximately
37.6 MJ/L and complies with ASTM D396 No. 1 and BS 2869
Class C2.
