Havoline
LPG is a premium quality SAE 20W/50, multigrade crankcase
oil which meets the latest industry classifications
and manufacturers' specifications. Havoline LPG is formulated
to give maximum performance in LPG (Liquefied Petroleum
Gas) and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) fuelled engines
in all private and commercial vehicles, either gas only
or dual fuel (petrol/gas). Havoline LPG can also be
used in many modern four stroke and rotary petrol engine
vehicles, both naturally aspirated and turbocharged
and all passenger car and light commercial diesel engines.

Automotive
petrol engines are not necessarily designed for gas
operation and when converted can face special problems.
These problems include:
High
oil consumption, since gas does not have the same cooling
effect as petrol and in addition generates higher combustion
temperatures. Thus the engine runs hotter and more oil
is drawn down inlet valve stems and past piston rings.
Havoline LPG helps reduce the oil consumption through
the use of appropriate base oils and viscosity index
improvers.
Exhaust
valve seat recession in engines designed to use leaded
petrol, caused by the loss of lubricant action of leaded
petrol and by ash deposits (in engines using either
unleaded or leaded fuel) from conventional engine oils.
These deposits can be abrasive at valve temperatures.
In severe cases, abrasion can result in seat wear to
the extent that all available valve clearance can be
absorbed. Besides restricting the outflow of exhaust
gases, valves will not contact seats properly. It is
recommended that for engines not designed for LPG operation,
the valves and seats be replaced with specially hardened
components when converting to gas operation. Havoline
LPG contains antiwear additives which help provide the
lubricating qualities needed on the valve faces.
Oxidation,
nitration and corrosion problems of the copper-lead
bearings because weaker mixtures are used when running
on gas and higher combustion temperatures are experienced.
Oil nitration and oxidation can result and the oil can
become acidic and corrosive to the lead in copper-lead
bearings. Rapid bearing failure can result. Havoline
LPG protects copper-lead bearings against corrosion.
Also
recommended for petrol engines requiring API SJ and
diesel engines requiring up to API CF Classification
oils and as such is suitable for mixed fleets containing
gas, dual fuel, petrol and light diesel engines.
